ABSTRACT

Video poetry contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage and fosters the development of creative industries. Modern video poetry often involves artificial intelligence (AI) tools. This article compares classical and innovative methods of video poetry production to reveal optimal approaches to the recording process. The author used the Fliki neural network to create a video based on Robert Rozhdestvensky’s poem Scientists Don’t Understand Poets and compared it with a traditional poetry video directed by Vladislav Kislenko. The traditional video transformed the poem into a multi-layered work filled with symbolism and cinematic techniques. It conveyed the original emotional power while revealing new facets of Rozhdestvensky’s poetic world. Fliki, on the contrary, only managed to recreate fragmented images without a coherent plot, failing to convey the atmosphere and deep meaning of the poem. It proved unable to reflect the links between the artistic form and the cultural context of the epoch. The research perspective is to find AI tools that are able to interpret texts, as well as select visual images and sounds based on the cultural context.
