Mission

Virtual Communication and Social Networks is a national scientific peer-reviewed journal. Virtual communication science is a new and promising direction dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of virtual communication and its core component – social networks.

Mission. The journal provides a platform for high-quality research publications on various academic and applied aspects of virtual communication and social networks. We believe that comprehensive scientific discussions promote an interdisciplinary approach to the phenomena of virtual communication and social networks that could detect and fill the existing research gaps.  Not only do we seek to raise ethical and social issues of virtual communication but we also contribute to the implementation of the latest developments, applications, and pilot projects in this field. We encourage scientists to look at the realities of modern life and see prospective research objects.

Vision. Virtual Communication and Social Networks aspires to identify the patterns, trends, and consequences of virtual communication. We provide a new vehicle to stimulate intellectual discourse and interdisciplinary exchange of experience between science, practice, and R&D. Our vision is to advance science by gaining the status of the leading journal in the field of virtual communication and social networks that deepens the current knowledge, resolves burning issues, and shapes a responsible approach to modern communication technologies.

Aims

 1) to publish original peer-reviewed scientific articles on various issues of virtual communication and social networks;
 2) to disseminate research results in the field of virtual communication and social networks, bringing together scientists, researchers, academia, students, journalists, psychologists, sociologists, etc.;
 3) to serve as a forum for sharing cutting-edge issues and advanced developments in the sphere of virtual communication and social networks;
 4) to encourage umbrella projects that combine theoretical and methodological approaches from communication studies, sociology, psychology, linguistics, computer science, translation, etc.;
 5) to draw public attention to the ethical and social issues of virtual communication and social networks, thus facilitating new solutions;
 6) to publish applied R&D results to be used by specialists in virtual communication and social networks, e.g., PR experts, marketers, academics, etc.;
 7) to create friendly environment for young scientists and encourage them to study virtual communication and social networks.

The target audience of the journal is philologists, psychologists and sociologists whose research focuses on the virtual communication and social networks.

Scope. Our current content is mostly Russian, but we are about to start publishing a parallel open-access English version to promote domestic research worldwide and introduce foreign authors to Russian audience.

The Journal is recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation for Academic Degrees and Titles for publishing the dissertation research results. The Journal belongs to Category (K3) of scientific periodicals as classified by the Higher Attestation Commission. The Journal is included in the current version of the "White List" (Russia) – the fourth level.

All manuscripts that have passed the initial selection stage are subject to a mandatory double-blind peer review conducted by the members of the Editorial Board or by acknowledged academic specialists in the related area with at least three years of publishing experience. Peer review is carried out in accordance with the principles of publication ethics of the journal and the policy of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The Virtual Communication and Social Networks uses plagiarism detection software Antiplagiat. In case of plagiarism, the Editorial Board follows the COPE guidelines and its own Editorial Policy.

The Journal is financed by the Kemerovo State University and does not charge authors for reviewing, editing, publishing, open access, site content, electronic depositary, etc.

The Journal is an open-access journal. All articles are made freely available to readers immediately upon publication. Our open-access policy is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition.

All materials are available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

Each issue of The Journal is sent to the Federal Government Agency for Press, Mass Media, and Mass Communications, the Russian State Library, Russia’s largest libraries, prominent research and academic centers, etc.
